It's almost holiday time!

I know it has been a while since I have posted, but I just have trouble remembering to update this thing. I have like a million other things to do, so this blog is usually last on my priority list.

We are doing well. Jimmy just passed his post exam for state Jailer certification, so we are really proud of him. He went back to his normal work schedule today. It has been nice having him home in the evenings and on the weekends, but starting today, it's back to the old schedule. I think we will try and put up Christmas decorations this weekend since we have decided to go to Tuscaloosa for a few days at Thanksgiving. I'll have to take pictures of our tree and post them - if I remember!

October Calendar

Here is an October desktop calendar for you to use on your computer. For my desktop, I have inserted a photo in the white space. You can do the same and have a great desktop calendar! If you have trouble adding your picture, let me know and I will add it for you and send it back to you. I plan on making a new calendar every month, so be on the lookout!

Savannah, July 2008

I know this is a little late, but I wanted to post these pictures that my friend, Susan W., took of Jolea when we were in Savannah this summer. Susan is a great photographer and I love how she has captured Jolea as she walks barefoot (I must have been crazy) around this Savannah square where Forrest Gump was filmed.

Greensboro Children's Museum

Jolea and I are in High Point, NC visiting Brian, Lindsey, Isaiah, Levi, and Lucy Morgan this week. We have been hanging around the house a lot, so today, I told Jolea we were going on a "special trip". We went to the Greensboro Children's Museum and had a great time. Jolea got to climb on an airplane, sit in a police car (photo above), play the drums (see video), sit in a postal truck, shop at the Fresh Market, and many other fun things. She also accidentally threw sand in a little girl's face as she was raking the sand. Thank goodness the mom did not get upset! I made Jolea apologize to her, and we moved on from the sand. Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos and videos!

Lazy Sunday Afternoon

Jimmy is working the evening shift this week, so I have Jolea all to myself every evening (and morning) this week. Jimmy is still asleep when we get up and gets home after we go to bed. SO - yesterday we went outside to play, and I thought I would introduce a new toy to Jolea - SIDEWALK CHALK. YIPPEE! We had a lot of fun! You can tell from the picture what she drew and what I drew. She wanted me to write out Isaiah's name, so we added his name to our artwork. She "attempted" to write his name, thus the white lines at the top of the picture. Anyway, we had a lot of fun. Enjoy!

Digital Scrapbooking

I have definately tried to scrapbook before, and I simply do not have the patience for it. HOWEVER, I guess I must be behind the times, because I have discovered digital scrapbooking. Not that I am actually going to MAKE a digital scrapbook, but I am going to use the elements I find to make other things - like the header for this blog. Here are some links for you all to check out where you can download FREE digital scrapbook elements. I am sure there are other websites, but these are the ones I have found that have the best stuff. Have fun!

You Were Created to Accomplish Great Things!

Would you agree that the Olympics have been crazy this year? I am watching the final race for Michael Phelps (400 Medley Relay) as I type - and of course - they won, and broke the World Record - AGAIN! WOW! Talk about beating the odds - his elementary school principal told his mom he would never amount to anything....kids made fun of him in school....boy, were they wrong. You know, Satan tells us the same thing, but we know that our Lord, Jesus Christ created us perfectly and to accomplish GREAT things. Are you up to the challenge?

Changes are coming.....

FINALLY! Have you ever wished for something your entire life, and then after over 25 years, it finally came true? Well, that is what has happened. Jimmy has ALWAYS wanted to be in the field of law enforcement, and after many years of thinking about it, praying about it, filling out applications, taking tests, working out, watching COPS every Saturday (even on our honeymoon :)) etc., it has finally come true. Starting July 7, Jimmy will be a Gwinnett County Sheriff Deputy. Not only will Jimmy have a new job, our family will forever change. Shift work, uniforms, guns, mean people..... Jimmy can handle it. Thank you to those who have traveled this journey with us. It is just the beginning!

World Changers and Our Family

I write to you from my 6th year at World Changers Summer Staff Training as a National Staff member. I can remember my first year at training how concerned I was that I was so close to the age of those serving on Summer Staff, that it would be hard for me to lead them. Now, 6 years later, I am 32, and anywhere from 8-12 years older than our Summer Staff. I was once in their shoes....as was Jimmy.....and that is how we met. So many memories, life-changing experiences, and I know there are so many more to come.
